Plumber

The plumbing trade constitutes one of the largest construction occupations, including everything from new construction, repair, modernization and maintenance work. With new opportunities arising with trends towards water-saving technologies and energy efficiency, employment in this field is growing faster than ever.

What You'll Learn:

Trainees will utilize safe work practices and learn how to use the required tools and equipment needed to construct and install potable water systems, drain waste and vent systems and plumbing layouts. Math and science skills will be taught in order to accurately read, layout, design and sketch basic plumbing drawings.

• use piping hand tools, specialized power tools, various measuring tools, piping equipment, fasteners, and fittings.
• learn how to read, layout, design and sketch basic plumbing drawings.
• construct piping system projects including the layout and design of piping drawings.
• install plumbing systems, fixtures, valves, fittings, hangers, riggings, and scaffolds.
• select common piping and plumbing materials while installing hot water heating systems, plumbing systems, drainage waste vent systems, potable water systems, and plumbing layouts.

Program Length:

10 months

Program Schedule:

September - June

Monday to Friday

Certificate includes:

• Emergency First Aid
• WHMIS
• Construction Safety Training System

Requirements of the job:

Healthy individuals with good stamina, attention to detail, good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Employment Outlook:

The Plumbing industry is vast so generally trades people specialize in plumbing, pipefitting, or heating installations. This trade also includes occupations in service and maintenance.
