Esthetics (Cosmetology)

As an Esthetician you will give facials and other body treatments using specialized products and techniques using specialized products and techniques as well as make-up application, waxing, manicures, pedicures and artificial nail enhancement. Choosing a career in Esthetics can provide you with an opportunity to work with people in an exciting and creative industry.

What You'll Learn:

The theoretical component of this program includes professional ethics and discretionary skills, and will provide you with the knowledge and ability to remove hair by depilatory, tweezing , and other hair removal methods. Depilatory products, contents and ingredients will be examined as well as measuring and shaping of eyebrows along with client consultation, recommendations, pre and post sanitation, sterilization and maintenance recommendations.

 

Program Length:

10 months (960 hours)

Certificate includes:

• Esthetics Certification (upon successful completion of BCC Association exam)
• Emergency First Aid
• World Host
• WHMIS

Requirements of the job:

A desire to work within the service industry, be ethical, confidential, sanitary and professional in your practices and highly developed interpersonal and discretionary skills.

Employment Outlook:

Estheticians are most often employed at salons, spas, cosmetic clinics and any other licensed business that offers hair removal services. Many are self-employed, either owning their own business or leasing a spot within some else's salon, spa or clinic.
