Community Support Worker/Educational Assistant

If you are interested in a challenging and rewarding career in the social services sector, Community Support Work is right for you. Community Support Workers support people with developmental challenges, mental illnesses and physical disabilities to enjoy a better quality of life. They support people throughout the community, in homes, schools and a variety of programs.

What You'll Learn:

Besides learning the roles and functions of the Community Support Worker, the program is grounded in a solid understanding of psychology and ethics. The program is also designed to enhance the student's competence and confidence in all human interactions.

Program Length:

10 months (Includes two 6 week practicums)

Tuesday 9:00 am - 12:37 pm

Wednesday 9:00 am - 2:45 pm

Thursday 9:00 am - 2:45 pm

Friday 9:00 am - 12:37 pm

Employment Outlook:

Community Support Workers are in high demand. They provide educational assistance in schools and mental health support in community-based programs. Community Support Workers work across a diverse spectrum of settings and schedules, including homes, employment centres and day programs.

Community Cares Mental Health Response Training. FREE training online or in class. Registration Information.

Continuing Education: Pre- registration begins June 10th for Continuing Education Courses beginning in the Fall of 2013. Graduated students upgrading an academic course(s) with Continuing Education do not require an appointment to register. Non-Graduated students require an appointment with the counsellor to develop a course plan for graduation. Please call 604-814-0446 during office hours to make an appointment.

Official Transcripts for the 2012-13 school year will be mailed out to students by the Ministry of Education the first week of August 2013. High School Diplomas will be ready for pick up in the office in September 2013.
