Diploma Programs

The Continuing Education Center offers students the courses required to receive an Adult Dogwood or the BC High School Diploma. Many of these courses are also prerequisites for a large number of post secondary programs.

Adult Dogwood

To qualify for a BC high school graduation, and receive a Dogwood Diploma, adult students (19 years and over) must complete at least five courses, including:

• One of Communications 12 or English 12
• One of Principles of Math 11, Applied Math 11, Introductory Math 11, Essentials of Math 11, Accounting 11 or Accounting 12
• At least three courses at the grade 12 level (note that Social Studies 11 may also be accepted as one of these courses)
• At least three of these five courses must be completed after the student's nineteenth birthday.
• Courses that have been designated "Locally Developed" do not qualify for the Adult Program.

Colleges and universities in BC may require adult students to show more courses on their transcripts than those mentioned above. We encourage students who are planning to pursue post-secondary education to find out about any specific prerequisite courses their chosen college or university may require.

Provincial Exams

Provincial exams are required for:
1995 Graduation Program: Communications 12, English 12, Principles of Math 12, Chemistry 12, Physics 12, Biology 12, Geography 12, Geology 12 and History 12.

2004 Graduation Program: Communications 12, English 12, BC First Nations 12 and Social Studies 11, All Math 10, English 10 and Science 10 courses. All other academic grade 12 provincial exams are optional. We encourage students who are planning to pursue post-secondary education to find out about any specific prerequisite courses and provincial exams their chosen college or university may require.

Adult Dogwood Program: Provincial exams are not required for graduation however, some colleges and universities in BC may require adult students to write a provincial exam to meet prerequisite requirements. We encourage students who are planning to pursue post-secondary education to find out about any specific prerequisite courses their chosen college or university may require.
